Frostbite Race no 10 course and location

Posted: 2nd March 2012 by jerseypaddleclub in Frostbite race news

Hi all,

Race no 10 is just a week away (11th March) and this is going to be a good one that will challenge you and give everyone a taster for the summer races.

The plan is to have it at St Ouens in front in between Sands and Cutty. There will be 2 makers set out at sea, 1 just beyond the break line and the other further out to sea.

Racers will start from the beach and paddle out through the surf past the first marker heading out to the furthest marker where they will make a right hand turn. They will then head back to the 1st marker and make a left hand turn back out to sea completing 3 laps with the last one heading past the 1st marker and surfing to the shore with a beach sprint to the finish.

There will a Jet Ski in the water for safety support but if the conditions are silly then we will move to St Brelades and do the normal race.

If everyone could be at Sands slip by 8:30 for a 9am start.

I will send out an update on location on Saturday 10th via FB, Twitter and Text

Great day for Team GB with both Gareth and Jim advancing to day 2 of the SUP Surf comp tomorrow. The waves kept coming all day and there was some amazing surfing on show including the boys.
Tomorrow Gareth is in heat 3 in the morning and will be up against Sean Poynter from USA, Antione Del Pero from France and Ivian Van Vuuren from South Africa. This will be an amazing heat and should be on the live webcast at around 2pm GMT.
Jim is surfing in the afternoon in heat 3 Repercharge round 1 against Rafael Tapia they will be joined by 2 more surfers who finish 3rd and 4th in round 2 main event. This should be on the webcast from 5pm GMT.
Swell forecast for tomorrow is light winds and 4ft swell so it’s going to be a good day.

Now there are 3 more races in the Frostbite series

Posted: 14th February 2012 by jerseypaddleclub in Frostbite race news

Tim Rowe mentioned that it might be nice to do 3 more races before we conclude the Frostbite series as we have a few new faces to the race scene who have just bought boards.
This is a great idea but for one of the races I won’t be here (cry’s of joy I hear) so Tim will be the main point of contact for this race.

So here are the new race dates

Race number 9 – 26th February 9:30am – Tim will decide the venue for this event

Race number 10 – 11th March 9:00am – I would like to hold this event at St Ouens in front of Sands but if the weather is nuts then it will be at St Brelades. Sorry for the early start but we need to work with the tides.

Race number 11 Final race of the series – 25th March – 10:30am – Start of British Summer time so lets hope the weather knows this. The venue will be St Brelades and we will run two types of race. A BOP and a Team Relay. This will set the tone for what the Summer Sizzler race events will be like so make sure for this day you give 2 hours to the event. After if everyone would like we can go for lunch at the Sugar Reef or if the weather is kind maybe a BBQ !!!

At the end of race 11 we will have a prize giving and explain how the Summer Sizzler will work.

I will send out the EVENT invites shortly.

Dates for the last 2 races of the Frostbite series
