Summer Sizzler Information

Posted: 17th March 2012 by jerseypaddleclub in Summer Sizzler Race and Surf news

We’re just under a month away from the start of the Summer Sizzler Race and Surf Series 2012 which kicks of on the 14th/15th April.

The plan is to have 5/6 Champagne events through out the summer which will be pay to enter events.
£5 to enter race event which will be 2 or 3 races that day
£5 to enter the SUP Surfing event
or
£8 to do both. The plan is that the a percentage of the money taken will go towards a BBQ after the event and the remainder will go in to the club bank account to be used to help pay for the end of the Summer Sizzler series party and trophies.

All Champagne Race events will be held at Sands or La Braye depending on conditions on the day. All SUP surf events will be held at Sands.

As well as the Champagne events at the weekends there will also be Coke Bottle race events at various bays around the island in the evenings after work during the week.

These events will be free to enter and will be a similar format to the Frostbite races. The dates for these events will be decided the weekend before they are held so we can make sure we pick the best evening for weather and also make sure there’s no swell as I know I and most others would rather be surfing on a summers evening that racing.

Coke Bottle events will be great for people wanting to get in to racing or just for fitness and it will be good for the race veterans as training for the bigger events.

Mark ‘The Weather Man’ Creedon will be helping to decide the best venue for the Coke Bottle events in that week

Points system.

The Champagne events will carry more points as these are pay for event and the level of difficulty will be higher than a Coke Bottle event.
So an example is a 1st in a Champagne event will get the person 200 points but a 1st in a Coke bottle event will get you 100 points.

As always nothing is set in stone and I’m learning as I go with this so if anyone as any suggestions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Cheers
John
